Terms of Service
Last updated: June 2, 2026
These are the rules for using Open Mat. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them.
1. What Open Mat is
Open Mat is a coordination tool that lets fitness instructors arrange sub coverage with people they trust. It is not a marketplace, an employer, or a guarantor that any class will be covered. You and the other members are the ones doing the coordinating — Open Mat is the inbox, calendar, and group chat for that work.
2. Who can use it
You must be at least 18 to use Open Mat. You must be authorized by the studio (or other venue) to teach the classes you post about. If you're not, don't post them.
3. Your account
- Keep your password private. You're responsible for activity on your account.
- One account per person — don't share accounts.
- Use your real name and accurate info on your profile. Group members rely on it to decide whether to cover your class.
4. Acceptable use
Don't do any of this:
- Harassment, hate speech, or threats toward other members.
- Impersonating someone else.
- Posting illegal content or content that infringes someone's rights.
- Spamming, scraping, or trying to break the app.
- Recruiting other instructors away from a group you were invited into. Covering a class is a coordination action, not an excuse to take a job.
Violations can get your account suspended or removed.
5. Your content
You own what you put into Open Mat — your profile, requests, messages. By posting it, you give us permission to display it to the people you intend (your group, the people you invited). We don't claim ownership and we don't use your content outside the app.
6. Coverage is between you
Posting and claiming a sub on Open Mat is a coordination signal, not a contract. We don't process payments and we're not party to any arrangement between you and the person covering or being covered.
- If you claim a class, you are responsible for actually showing up to teach it.
- If you post a class and no one claims it, the responsibility for finding coverage is still yours.
- Pay between requester and claimer is between you. Open Mat tracks the amount you've agreed to but does not move money.
7. Group admins
If you create a group, you're its admin (you can transfer ownership later). Admins are responsible for who they invite. We don't vet instructors on your behalf — that's the point of the trusted-circle model.
8. Disclaimers
Open Mat is provided "as is" and "as available." We make no warranty that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any specific class will be covered. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Inpulsd Inc. (the legal entity behind Open Mat) is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Open Mat — including missed classes, lost income, disputes between members, or content posted by other users. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (which, for free users, is $0).
10. Suspension and termination
We can suspend or remove accounts that violate these terms or are abusive to other members. You can delete your account anytime in Settings → Delete my account.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. If we change anything material, we'll update the date at the top and surface a notice in the app. Continuing to use Open Mat after a change means you accept it.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Delaware.
